There are many things I’m thankful for: family, friends, interesting and meaningful work, and the opportunity to explore the world around me.

On the exploration front, today I’m grateful to have been able to explore a little more of Delhi on a walk with Salaam Baalak Trust, an NGO in India that provides a safe and caring environment for street and working children.

The organization’s first goal is to try to reunite children with their families. When that’s not possible, they provide longterm shelter, schooling, and care to children from ages 5 – 18. Our two tour guides both lived in a Salaam Baalak shelter and were kind enough to share their experiences as well as show us around one of the organization’s contact points and shelters.

You can learn more about Salaam Baalak Trust (and donate to help fund their important work) on their web site.
